By coincidence, the trails frame the main subject, but the number of satellites now above us make it nearly impossible to take a long exposure image, certainly at the start or end of a night, without recording at least one satellite trail, if not more, per image. Some of the parallel streaks could be Starlink satellites.

Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) on the night of January 22/23,2023 when it was in Draco,with it near the reddish star Edasich (aka Iota Draconis) at top,and the edge-on galaxy NGC 5907 below the comet. To the right of that galaxy is NGC 5866,aka M102. The dust tail of the comet was showing a strong anti-tail spike ahead of the comet's greenish coma,as this was two days before we crossed the plane of the comet's orbit when we would see its dust tail "edge-on." A portrait of the infamous STEVE arc of hot flowing gas associated with an active aurora, here showing his distinctive pink colour and the fleeting appearance of the green picket fence fingers that often show up hanging down from the main arc. On this night the green fingers lasted no more than two minutes. STEVE = Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement, and is a river of hot gas flowing east to west equatorward of the main aurora band. STEVE appeared after the main Kp5-level aurora died down in activity to the north, typical behaviour for STEVE. He was visible for only 35 to 40 minutes,

This is a high dynamic range stack of 6 exposures from 1/15 to 0.6 seconds taken just before using the camera to take a motion control time-lapse. The Moon was in conjunction with Mars (right of Moon) and Spica (left of Moon) but in the bright twilight they are not showing up here.

Even the ion tail was visible in binoculars and traceable out for 12° or so, or two binocular fields. A bit of cyan colour is visible around the head of the comet. The ninth magnitude galaxy NGC 2841 is visible to the right of the comet.
